Some tips on what to do/ what not to do during a photoshoot

Hello blog reader, nice to see you again!

For this blog I'm going to be talking about the "Do's and Don'ts of photography". This topic is very diverse in ways that we all have our own opinions. So you may agree or disagree with me, either way, here's my thoughts on it;

My thoughts on what NOT to do during a photo session:
- Don't expect your photos right away and try your very best not to be impatient. As photographers, we do many things ourselves, so yes, the photos would be very exciting to see from the photoshoot but the more patient you are, the better the photographer. It takes time to edit, create, gather, upload and go through the photos. There's a lot that you will never see or find out about so please be generous with our time. We are all on time schedules so each photographer of course knows how important you are to them, we respect that would go both ways, given the right amount of time management
- Do not try to look at the camera once your session is over. Unless the photographer says that it is okay to look at your photos, please do not pressure us into showing you an unfinished product. Usually a photographer will offer you to see a couple during the shoot and that's when you should be looking. Apart from that, please stay clear of the photos until the photographer is happy to share, it makes it a lot easier, less stressful and allows the photographer to digest the photoshoot

- Do not treat a photographer like a muppet, we are human too. This one might be obvious but I needed to add it to the list. It's the photographer's job to shower you in compliments and make you look amazing, so we hope you'd treat us with respect. Photoshoots are suppose to bring out the best in both client and photographer; if you don't feel each other's energy, either enlighten the mood or try your best to engage good banter

What to do during a photo session:
- Do be nice and respect each other. As a client, you are the canvas, let us paint our picture for you. Make sure you are comfortable and it should show in the photos. If you are relaxed and trust the creative process, it will be an amazing experience
- Do contact your photographer, text, email, DM, phone. It's important to stay connected during times of your booking. Having reassurance goes a loooooong way, particularly in this era. If the photographer isn't making contact with in during specific times of pre and post photoshoot, make sure you send them a friendly message. Communication with each other is extremely important, never think that client/photographer message is too much or not important.

- Do ask questions. Every single question on your mind should be talked with together, client and photographer. Both of you need to have an understanding or the who, what, when, where and how. If it's a big photoshoot and certain things are playing on your mind, let your photographer know beforehand. They should always respect your decisions and make a follow up of any questions or enquiries you might have
- Do, have fun with it! I know personally, if you've ever had a session with me I try my best to help the client relax and have yarn. It's good to make a connection with people and even better to have a few giggles between the photoshoot.

I think we can all agree on some of these points that I've made were good and to the point. I feel like this blog is more of a guide on what to look out for if anything.... Every single time I photograph there is always something unexpecting that is thrown into the journey. So I guess I'm here to say that if you are able to photograph or be a client for someone, you can learn something from both sides and have an open mind into each other's point of view

If you need help with something or need to chat, feel free to email me

(side note; I didn't know what photo to add with this blog so here's a landscape I took recently haha) Have a great day
